All you need to know about Buderim’s fun facts:
Take it back to the mid-1960’s, Buderim was considered a small rural community, with fewer than 1000 residents. As the Sunshine Coast became more popular subdividers moved in and local farms were cut up for housing blocks overlooking the ocean or Glasshouse Mountains.
You’d be surprised to know that while Buderim is commonly known as a mountain it is actually a rising plateau that is about 200 metres above sea-level, seven kilometres long and covered with lush rainforest.
Named after the mountain top on which it is located, Buderim is a large suburb (it covers more area than Maroochydore) with a semi – rural hinterland, a few kilometres inland from Mooloolaba and 90 kilometres north of Brisbane.
Originally a magnet for retirees in the 60s, 70s and 80s, Buderim is still popular with older couples, with several retirement villages, aged care facilities too: the population of this area doubled in the ten years between 1996 and 2006 and it has grown steadily ever since.
A few years ago British Airways asked customers to take a survey where Buderim was named third most desirable place to live after Paris and Aspen.
